Today I will teach on bag making and the next will be how to make a pair slippers using ankara.
To make a leather bag you will need
1. KARI BOARD
2. GUM
3. LEATHER OR ANKARA OR ANY MATERIAL OF YOUR CHOICE
4. SCISSOR
5. ZIP
6. LINEN
STEP 1
We are making a leather handbag, of size 12 by 24.
Cut out kari board of length 24 and breadth 12 that is what I mean by 12 by 24. like the image below.
Cut another kari board like the above but this time length will be 25 and breadth remains 12
STEP 2
curve the edges of the kariboards
and in the smaller kariboard measure out 4 inches in the middle, rule out below
STEP 3
Cut out the sides of the bag
Pick the smaller kari board, place the linen inside and gum. For the bigger kariboard place the leather on it and gum
Fix the handle of your choice to the gummed leather
take the sides and gum leather to one side of kari board to the other side gum in linen .Gum the sides to the two sides of the linened kariboard
and the Zip
STEP 6
Bring the leathered kari board and the kariboard with the linen. generously add gum to the body of both kariboards and gum them together to acheive this below
You could add a logo of your favourite designer to beautify the bag like this
This is lovely, thanks for sharing. Would try to make this as soon as i can put the materials together. By the way, what kind of gum do you use and would it hold the zip for long?
